How this site is run, how your data is handled, and the terms of use — in plain language.
This website is the personal portfolio of Peter De Ridder (“Pedri”), an independent artist based in tbd, 9340 tbd, BE. It is a non-commercial showcase: artworks are presented here, but no sales or payments take place on the site — enquiries are made through the contact form. I take your privacy seriously and process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Belgian law. The data controller is Peter De Ridder, reachable at deridder.peter@outlook.com.
What I collect and why: if you use the contact form, I store your name, email address and message so I can read and answer your enquiry (legal basis: my legitimate interest in responding to you). The message content is encrypted at rest; your name and email are stored so I can reply. If you leave a comment on an artwork, the display name and text you choose are published publicly and are not linked to your identity. For security and abuse prevention only, an irreversibly hashed form of your IP address is kept briefly (up to 24 hours) to enforce rate limits — your raw IP address is not stored.
Who processes the data (sub-processors): the site is hosted by Vercel and data is stored with Supabase in the EU (Paris region). Vercel Inc. is based in the United States, so hosting involves a transfer outside the EU, covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Privacy-friendly, cookieless visit statistics (a same-origin counter and Vercel Web Analytics) run only after you accept analytics in the cookie banner. I never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and use no other trackers.
How long I keep it (retention): contact messages, public comments and the internal notifications generated from them are kept for at most six months and then deleted automatically; you can ask for earlier deletion. Limited security and administrative logs are kept only as long as needed for security and accountability.
The cookie banner groups storage into two categories. Strictly necessary items — needed for the site to work, to keep the site owner signed in to the private dashboard, and to remember your cookie choice — are always active and cannot be switched off. Statistics are off by default: only when you enable them (via “Accept all”, or “Manage” in the banner) do I count visits and pages viewed — using a privacy-friendly, cookieless same-origin counter and Vercel Web Analytics — to improve the site. Choose “Reject non-essential” to keep all statistics off, and change your mind at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer (which reopens the banner) or by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to correct or erase it, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email deridder.peter@outlook.com and I will respond within one month; for contact-form data I can provide a copy or delete it on request. Public comments are pseudonymous and not linked to an email address, so to remove one just point me to the specific comment.
