When people first see my work together, they sometimes think it comes from several different artists. One picture is a quiet portrait in soft light; the next bursts at the seams with colour and movement. That is true — and yet it all comes from the same hand.
No style, but a signature
I have never been able to stick to a single style, and I stopped trying long ago. One day a face asks for charcoal and patience; the next, an idea wants nothing but colour. I follow what the work needs, not what a style prescribes.
It is a kaleidoscope, but it is all me.
What binds the work is not a subject or a technique, but a way of looking — sometimes subtle, sometimes hard, always searching for the line that feels right.
From charcoal to colour
I work in the language an image needs. For one, that is the dry, tangible line of charcoal; for another, the glow of pastel or the force of acrylic.
- Charcoal and pencil — for portrait and figure, where the line carries everything.
- Pastel and oil pastel — where colour and texture meet.
- Acrylic and watercolour — for work that wants to breathe and move.
